[Infrastructures] ITIL?

I got my ITIL certification and I loved it.
For two reasons:
1. It gave a common language to talk about the things I already knew
about "how to do computers right"
2. It meant that the executive cared to do IT right (over looking any
sort of implenetation realities).
I was taught that ITIL is a framework, like a buildings beams. The
building still needs proper walls and decorating and such. the frame
gives you the physically stable house.
ITIL can give you a "physically" stable IT service offering. Which I
belive in.
And yes the implemenetations suck. My experience is that there are too
many clerks, beuracrats and executives involved and not enough staff and
line manager involved.
Heck I think most managers are no more than clerks but that's a
different RANT.
ITIL = Good.
My 2.21 cents ( UK sterling conversion)
