Translation -- ITIL is an information technology *risk management
tool for management*. It is there to help management reduce surprises
coming out of the IT department.

It is not a solution for your technical problems.

Other places have stated that, from a purely technological
standpoint, you probably will achieve more of what you want if you
reduce the technical risk factors that make management tools like ITIL
seem appealing to management.

Less realized risk will quickly cause the bean counters to wonder
if the risk management is worth its cost.
