I'm not sure what is common or considered best practice, I use DHCP as
an installation tool. Installed servers having their own IP information.
This seems to me to provide the best of both worlds. New installations
are managed by DHCP, and thus we have a framework for automation. Those
same servers then manage themselves once installed, thus keeping them
from being reliant on other hosts.
